I collecting stamp since I am a child. Collecting stamps is my hobby. I believe that through stamps, children can learn knowledge beyond textbooks. Therefore, it is my mission to encourage children to collect stamps.
How to encourage children to love stamp hobby, For my opion Using philatelic material to cultivating our children to develop a greater interest in collecting stamp is one of the method.
Dr. Tan Wee kiat had done a greate job. He had pubished a series of well illustrated, informative and educational children's books using philatelic Materials encouraging children to develop interest in Collecting stamps.
In the Dr Tan book "SINGAPORE: Many Races, One People Celebrating 50 years of Independence" Co-authored by Mabel Wee, Introduction Message by Dr Christine Chen (President AECES) Stated Singapore's 50 years of Independence and has gained much attention from the field of Early Childhood Education. The special edition was given to children attending the Focused Language Assistance in Reading (FLAIR). During FLAIR sessions, the Pro-FLAIR will read and carry out related learning experiences.
Children in FLAIR respond enthusiastically as they relate to the stamps in the book. They not only admire the beautiful stamps but also discuss the pictures and photographs shown on them. They are able to share experiences of playing with neighbours of different races and exchange greetings in different languages. Some children make bookmarks of what they like about Singapore. Others write letters to their parents and post them whilst some even interview the postman and visit the post office nearby.
From her dedication, we realized that educating children with stamp materials can arouse their interest in stamp collecting.
In addition, as early as the 1970s, the Singapore Philatelic Club undertook a joint philatelic event with the National Library, as shown in the above flyer. I hope history can be return .
