內容:憑单在槟榔與邱 宇谦 收過文山堂还來利息壹佰五拾元因恐有悞立此字壹紙付執存怊 光緒癸年元月二五日立代 銀单人 槟城旧名称槟榔與,文山 堂邱公司 其實就是邱氏宗 祠。昔日的宗祠邱公司像 新加坡潮州会馆义安公 司,拥有很多产业,诸如 义安公司拥有位于乌节路 的义安城,富可敌国。 历史背景: 提起邱公司,較為人熟知的是龍山堂邱公司,但其 實尚有另一間規模較小的 邱公司坐落在檳城海墘新 路,那就是文山堂。根據 邱公司宗族結構,文山堂 創辦人邱廣溫是屬於海 房,也因此只有同屬海房 的邱氏才能成為該堂的會 員。 邱氏祖先遷榮公來自中國 河南,後在唐朝時期(公 元885至886年)遷至中國 福建泉州。邱氏的邱原本是丘,但因 至聖先師孔子亦名為孔 丘,所以清朝皇帝下令姓 丘百姓改姓邱,以示尊重 聖人。” 隨著時間的推移,邱氏後 代散佈到中國各地並依據 他們的落腳處以四大角來 區分,四大角之下又細分 為13個房頭。 當中邱廣溫(1392年至 1469年)搬遷到海墘居住並創辦文山堂,所以文山 堂是屬於海房。在18世紀 初,來自中國福建省、漳 州府、海澄縣、三都境、 新包及新江社的邱氏後 代來到檳城並於1878年建 好文山堂。 1878年文山堂建竣 據歷史記載,早在1775年 就有邱氏後代在檳城出 生,到1816年邱氏一族已有 上百人。1878年,邱天德是文山堂的大家長,當時 在他的帶領下文山堂擴充 並買房收租金。 早年文山堂原址確實是面 向大海,當時的土庫街 (Beach Street)”街如其 名”,是個海灘。在19世紀 末政府啟動填海計劃大興 土木並在1906年建設海墘 新路而該堂也被迫往後搬 遷至现址。
